Bed Time Is a "Whack A Mole" Game

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

One of the myriad problems with this parenting gig is that they save the hardest part for last. BEDTIME. Bedtime should be in the morning -- when we're fresh and kind and sweet -- and decent parenting still seems like a very real possibility. But no, the hardest parts -- dinner and baths and bedtime -- arrive at the end of the day, when we have nothing left. When the truth is, we are counting the minutes. Counting the moments until no one is the boss of us anymore. Until we can sink into that couch, book, Internet, or glass of wine -- whatever our victory lap includes.

One mom shares their routines of this popular game at bedtime. When everyone of the mom's and dad's out there are ready for their victory lap ;)

Is bedtime easy at your house or do you have little "moles" popping up all the time? Typically it is an easy routine here, thankfully. Except when he wants to stay up just five, ten more minutes. ;) What's your bedtime routine like?

We don't generally have this problem at our house, but the story was hilarious! LOL! The finger!

Oh so funny! Seen from a perspective 20 some odd years removed! The finger is a really, really good one. Maybe if daddy brought a wet wipe in to fix the problem? Actually mine went to bed fairly well-it was the getting up in the middle of the night that made my life more interesting.

LOL I know. The finger story was hilarious!!! I too had the middle night problem. Still sometimes he may wake up with a nightmare or something but generally goes to bed easily. I was cracking up reading her story!! :)

hahaha i was laughing so hard at this story! SO true! Rows too young to fully do the excuse thing yet. He'll say he wants juice (water), which is always kept on his table next to his bed but for some reason needs me to physically hand it too him like he's got no arms suddenly..... but no other excuses yet. I wait for those days!! But he does do the middle of the night wake up on occasion. Maybe.. once every few weeks. But i march him back into his room and he goes to sleep usually quickly. I take a great liking to the part when she says it's funny when it's not your turn hehehehe. SO true :-)
