And that is exactly why I refuse to buy anywhere that involves a HOA or Condo Commando. While the picture doesn't show exactly what they are talking about I say good for him. I can't tell you how many people I know in South Florida that have had HOAs change the rules because they didnt like what someone was doing to there house. I remember a case down there over someone hanging their clothes out to dry it was no where in the "rules" aboutnot being able to but some neighbor that lived 3 streets over coomplained about it. There are places that don't allow trucks or SUVs. I had a client that bought a place and then after the fact changed the rules saying to work trucks allowed. So this cat went and got the magnetic signs and would wait till they came up to him and pull them off and say see not a work truck. BTW he won in court. There are stupid things as to color you can paint, type of plants you can plant, vehicle you can drive, how many guests at a party, oh, what type of vehicle your guest can drive through the "community" etc.   I say for him to fight they do not say anywhere what the contact said that both parties agreed upon but HOAs are notorious for changing the rules or saying it said something else just to get some more $$$$$...........moral to the story don't buy or rent in a HOA :) unless you want to deal with drama everyday.

HOA seems to always have the 1 or 2 that are on a power kick and think they are king or queen of the neighborhood.. My mother lives in  a condo here in town, A couple of the heifers decided they wanted NO color in the neighborhood, that meant, NO flowers of any color!! are you believing this? My brother had bought our mother some flowers before this "rule" went into affect, they were planted, 2 months later he died, yeah, the last thing he gave her. this woman(and I use the term loosely) went into the front of my mothers flower bed and pulled them out!!!!!!!! first of all, each owner has their own spot , it is NOT common ground. but this woman pulled them up anyway. I tried to get my mother to file charges on her for theft but she wouldnt do it, THEN they decided you couldnt have a cushion on any seats on your front porch!!  this place is ridiculous!! As luck would have it, these 2 cows moved from the neighborhood, probably onto another HOA to terrorize

Same thing here... We do not want to live anywhere they have those crazy stipulations.. wow..

that is so very sad!!! I can't believe people are that crazy they have to have that much power or feel like they do. I hate that happened. I do not want to be in an area where they have HOA's or things like that. I can see if they are in it to make the neighborhood nice but no color or telling you what fence to put up or items can get a little bit overboard ESPECIALLY when you OWN the property... sigh...

We got lucky, a few years ago my husband and I were looking for a new place, well the one house we fell in love with had a HOA. At the time he worked for an A/C company, he had to bring the company van home every night. Well we get approved to move in but with one exception....... he could not bring the van home!! Their rules stated "no company vehicles of any kind unless they are there for business". We didn't walk away.......we ran away :-) I couldn't imagine living in a place that people on a power trip would have the right tell me what I can or can not do with or in my home, and paying them to do so at that!!

I will NEVER rent or buy in an HOA because I don't feel I should have to pay someone to tell me what I can or cannot do on MY property. I should be able to paint my house what ever color I want and have what ever flowers etc I want in my yard, etc.  As long as my home doesn't look like trash it's none of their business.
