Favorite Books or Authors- Do you read books or do you prefer a Kindle?

Do you have a favorite book or author you like to read? I fell in love with the Sookie Stackhouse novels and I think I have read all of them. I have also read all of the ones that I know of by Janet Evanovich unless she has a new one out. I like to read all types of stories and books but I need some new ones to look for.

What is your favorite author or type of story to read? Have you gotten into the electronic books yet? I have considered a Kindle, Nook or even an iPad but haven't made the jump yet. If you have do you like it or do you prefer to sit with the actual book?

I prefer hard back books, if possible.  Not sure I'll ever get into a Kindle type thing.  I suppose I will when I no longer have a choice.  Shouldn't be long the way things are going, eh?

I know what you mean. I love the feel of the REAL book. I have read some on my phone through a reader but it is just not the same. LOL

I'm a Dean Koontz fanatic! I love supernatural type fiction. I just got a kindle for Christmas and actually love it.  It's so much easier than hardcover books(or even paperbacks) to take with me and I can bring several books incase I finish the one I'm reading.  The only problem I have with it is that a lot of the "ebooks" I thought looked interesting are short stories instead of actual novels.  Also, most of the ebooks I really want to read (from Dean Koontz & other popular authors) cost just as much as an actual book. I read that some of the authors are the ones who set the prices but if I'm going to pay full price I want the actual book.

I love my kindle!! My 8 y/o loves it too!

I don't think it's an either/or. I love my Kindle and I love actual books. In fact I'm currently reading one of both. I find that I tend to purchase hard copy books that I will re-read/reference/keep (tends to be non-fiction) and do the Kindle for one time only reads. A Kindle is great for traveling, but for books I'm going to underline, highlight, and write in the margins I prefer the book form.

I like holding books in my hands and displaying them if they have a nice cover on them. My favorite authors are Norman Vincent Peale, Andy Andrews, Depak Chopra and other motivational writers. Right now I am reading a book on how to learn sign language.

Jennifer, you just listed 2 of my favorite authors. I also like James Patterson, Iris Johanson, Patrica Cornwell. Just a few off the top of my head. Also don't know if you knew this or not, but One For THe Money is coming out in a movie this month. Now about e-books, my daughter got a Kindle Fire for Christmas. I love it and so does she. The Kindle Fire is just a step below an iPad. I love reading books on it. We check them out from our local library. I can take it anywhere, it is more compact than a book. My daughter has been kind enough to share with me. While she is at school, I get to use the Kindle. Her being 12 she is limited to the use unless it is reading a book, or online doing research for homework. I have found that she is reading more now since she has the Kindle. Hope this helps....

I thought there was a movie coming but wasn't sure when. Sounds great! I will have to try some of the authors you guys have shared!!

You all will have to put up the movie times for One for the Money!  Def want to see it also.  I love to read with a book but also have a ikindle on my phone which is great for anywhere, anytime!  Nora Roberts/JD Robb is my all time fav author and I have probably read all of her books, at least once!

I love ALL books!  I don't really have a favorite type or author...I read depending on my mood.  I can say that I'll sit down and read anything!  Reading is and always has been a huge part of my life (which, thankfully, has carried over to my son).

I'm a book lover...I like the feel and smell (most of the time...:)) of a book!  I haven't been able to enjoy a Kindle/Nook yet...but, maybe one day.

I am reading a series right now with my daughter. she is ten and picked the books, but it is fun to read with her.. she reads the first book then passes it to me.  she moves on the the second etc.. this series isMargaret Pererson Haddix...book one found...book two sent...book three sabatage...  We like real books!!

Real books.... and Danielle Steele, I own everyone she has ever written. I also love inspirational readings and love The Shack.
