A week after a Forest High student suffered critical head injuries in a New Year’s Eve melee, sheriff’s officials have arrested a woman they say purchased alcohol consumed by the injured teen and others before the fight. 

Mary Lee Ditto, 52, tried to cover up the alcohol purchase by asking at least two young men to “come up with a story” to deflect deputies from finding out who bought the liquor. Ditto turned herself in shortly before 2 p.m. Friday at the Marion County Jail. She was charged with two counts each of contributing to the delinquency of a child and providing alcohol to a person under 21. The charges are misdemeanors. Her bond was set at $750.

I saw she has an attorney as well. How nice. Something about they are going to meet with investigators and the State Attorney. She should not have purchased this in the first place for kids. As far as I am concerned, she is the cause of this that night. If these kids were not intoxicated and all pumped up from this alcohol I do not think it would have been as bad. I hope she gets a tough Judge that will lay her out and then face jail time amongst numerous civil suits.

For the record, Charlie Crist is now a part of Morgan and Morgan.

My son was a victim in this case and just the thought of this lady, "mom" and speech therapist for a local elementary school just makes me sick to my stomach!

I am shocked that it is only a misdemeanor to purchase alcohol for minors. At the very least it should be bumped up to felonies if an injury or incident occurs from her stupidity and lack of parenting skills!

I am shocked that she is a professional in our school system and has a college education yet was self-fish enough to purchase this alcohol to be the "cool" mom!

I hope at the very very least she loses her job and the ability to work around young children. I hope her career is in the toilet and she is flipping burgers for minimum wage, growing old and broke! She needs to be held accountable for her actions. Thankfully with Gods blessing my son is fine. I cant say that about his best friend Josh. Please keep praying that Josh will have a full and speedy recovery.

Kara I am so glad your son is okay and I contiunue to pray for Josh and all these kids had to witness! I agree that it is sad that this is a misdemeanor. To think that not only did she buy it for the children but allowed them to drive away with it? Do not understand this at all no matter how much I try!

I am glad your son is okay.  She should lose her job over this and if enough parents start complaining about her to the school board maybe she will. We do not want people like this working in our school system.

I have been looking for her name in the elementary schools. What school does she teach at?

Glad she was arrested and I hope she carries the guilt of what her actions caused for a VERY long time.

I would think an adult would think about all the things that could happen when buying a bunch of teens alcohol. I understand she wanted to be cool, but these teens could drive off drunk and who knows what could happen. Situations like this for one...

I also want to share that Jenni at Easy Street has donated four family attraction passes for the Zumba fundraiser. I will be holding a drawing for those that night at 8:00p.m. $2.00 per ticket or three tickets for $5.00! Thank you Jenni for the donation!

No Jenny, she actually DROVE them to the other house and let them take the Keg with them. They were tooo Impaired to drive she she DROVE them!   Can you tell that I am still SO angry about this! :)

Kara as you should be angry! I am angry with you! I love the kids of Marion County and for something like this to happen at the hands of a adult is crazy! I can not get it off my mind!
