In today's Parade section of the paper there was a quiz about how to live longer and better. Most of the answers were around the subject of going outside, talking walks, doing tai chi, opening windows and being active in some way. I remember our outdoor therapy as a child. Mom would start with "go outside and don't come back till I call you", we argued with her if she made us come in 30 minutes too early for dinner. We didn't have expensive equipment, we play stick ball, red light -green light, tag your it, hide the stick. We had skate races or relay races, there was no name for it except playing. We hated when it rained, yet we had a blast when the firemen opened the hydrants for us to cool down in. We played in the snow and sweltering heat. How did you spend your Summers? Did you do "outdoor therapy" or was it just playing?
