As another discussion on here is already talking about the flu season is among us and hitting hard. How do you keep your family safe? Do you take the vaccine or do you just try to stay in a bubble like we are? ;) My father had the flue vaccine and he still ended up with the flu this past month. It was not nice even then. My mom had bronchitis right after him so things are going around. How do you keep you and your family safe? Washing your hands, eating healthy and getting plenty of rest seem to be quite the popular method. Share your tips here!!

I just saw my doctor and his suggestions were to avoid crowded places, try to get out as often as you can. If you work in an office that doesn't have windows that open, step away from your desk and get some fresh air. Open your house up on nice days, germs tend to hang out in enclosed area. Wipe your keyboard and phones, they have as many germs as a toilet. Try not to shake hands with people, if you work in contact with people have hand sanitizer. I saw my Dad at the hospital and they told me to use the hand sanitizer before and after I am in contact with him. Another thing I heard on TV was to wash your bedsheets. If someone is sick and they sweat during the night, that sticks to the bed, also don't make the bed right away, let it breath before making it. Kids will love that one. I never thought about it until I heard it on TV. The steering wheel on the car should be wiped down, if you switch cars with anyone and they have a cold, you will get it just from touching the steering wheel. This is a nasty flu season and we all need to take precautions

For years I worked in a hair salon and one thing that drove me crazy was people that would call in sick or have their kids home from school and they were clearly sick yet, they thought it would  be ok to come and sit in my chair and get the their hair done. For crying out loud IF YOU ARE SICK STAY HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't send your kid to school sick and get everyone else infected, dont go to work sick, don't go to Publix sick.

I think some people lack common sense in that area. Also get plenty of rest, drink water, eat right, and exercise. OH, and don't go overboard with the hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial stuff that gets the little pests immune to it. I have seen so many moms these days put sanitizer on their kids for every little thing and putting those covers in shopping carts, as well as wiping down the shopping cart etc, etc, etc then wonder why their kid is sick all the time. The bugs get immune to it and your child ends up sick those that are never exposed seem to get sick more than those that have been.

I could not agree more! I don't go anywhere if we even think we are getting something because I don't want to share it. I sometimes can not understand why when their kids are sick or they are clearly not well they are out and about. I understand it can not be helped going to the pharmacy or the doctor but getting your hair done?? Wow.. LOL

I

Vaccinated/ lots physical activity/ good nutrition.  Germs will still come my way but my body will be prepared.  Even if I fall ill I stand a far greater chance of getting back to normal a bit earlier.  Also, I don't venture out of my home while I am sick and will very visibly frown at anyone that finds it appropriate to spread their sickness throughout town.
