Strange New Year Traditions

Okay.. So my hubby always picks on me about my New Years superstitions but here goes... I do not take out the trash on New Years Day. We get our showers the day before and we do not clean on that day. We also eat greens, black eye peas, and sausage and saur kraut together. :-) I know these are probably really weird traditions to some but to me there are just a part of my New Year's day. LOL What do you do on New Years? Do you eat certain foods or do you just have a normal day? Happy New Year!!

Our family tradition was to have the house clean before midnight on the 31st, my mother always believed that having a clean house on the 1st was good luck. She said she was going to throw out all the bad from the past year and start fresh in the new. We usually had black eyed peas with rice as part of our New Years meal. We always stick close to home on New Years Eve and go to bed early.

We always did the black eyed peas and greens and not the crap from a can either homemade of course. Never heard of the not taking the trash out part though :)

My grandma always said you had to have pork and sauerkraut on New Years Day. This year we will make it BBQ style :) I also like to undecorate and clean on the 31st to have a fresh start.
