We went to the Lowry Park Zoo near Tampa today and it is truly worth the time to go down. It is a great place to take children and not spend a fortune. They were celebrating the birth of the Zoo's new baby elephant and baby hippo. I had never been there and I was amazed at how many animals they have and how large the place is. It is 91 miles south of Ocala, you take I-75 south then take exit 274 (Hwy 275 south) stay on 275 until you get to exit 48 which is W. Sligh Ave. It's 2 miles on the right. Check their website for upcoming events at www.lowryparkzoo.com.

Have taken my son there multiple times and it never disappoints :-) He LOVES it there. It's worth the drive :-) Also, they are having a dinosaur addition for several months starting in March. It's posted on their web-site. Love love love that place!
