My fiance and I are FINALLY getting married..after 4 years and a 2 year. We've been discussing for the last couple of years of when we'd like to plan the wedding and we've just decided with one of our favorite holidays..Halloween. Unfortunately, it's on a weekday so we opted for Saturday Oct 26. Our theme is of course, Halloweenish with a Fall feel to it...there wont be any ghoulish or gothic type decor. We've only really found one place that fits our budget, a venue we can easily decorate and has both a ceremony AND reception area..which is the Appleton Museum in Ocala. We were wanting a little more of an old world feeling, like a rustic venue. The hotel venues, other banquet halls and community centers are not what we are looking for. Does any of the Ocalamoms have venue ideas or have known weddings taking place in Ocala or surrounding cities (other than the typical venue..i.e.hotels, community centers, etc)? Thank you all for any information you have.
How about checking out some of the local farms, a friend of mine got married in a beautiful barn, he picked up his wife in a horse drawn carriage and took her up to the reception area after the services. You can drive around McIntosh or Micanopy and see if there is a rustic place that can be used for a wedding. When I was going to marry my 1st husband we looked into the Six Gun Territory Amasument Park and they were going to let us get married in their old church and have the reception in the saloon, unfortunately the place closed down before our wedding, so we had it outside. You can check the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale to see if you can have a wedding there. Good luck and congratulations.

st. augustine is gorgeous and old :-) Ocala is filled with historic houses and other various structures. Ask the business owners of the businesses located in some of the historic houses if they would be willing to accommodate your request. good luck and congrats!
