A 72 year old woman was arrested and charged in an attempted murder/attempted suicide. She allegedly gave her husband 18-20 pills in his hot chocolate and she took the same amount so they could both "go to heaven". Her husband has Alzheimers and Parkinson's and she has COPD. They were not going to initially charge her but after they got home and the family was concerned it would happen again, they charged her. She was taken to jail and went before the judge. Neighbors do not believe she should be charged with attempted murder due to the circumstances.
What do you think? Should she have been charged or should they have gotten her help?

what does the husband say? Did he know she did it? Did he care? If he wanted to live then yeah, i'd charge her. But if they were both in agreement that they wanted to die.. then just get them some help. But, if they want to die, they will find a way to get it done.
I do NOT think that she should be in jail. At all. She belongs in a long-term care facility, not a jail. Honestly, if her family actually cared that something else was going to happen then they should take the correct and caring action and place her somewhere that will take care of her and the husband.
