My son is 4 almost 5 and this is his first time in a "school" environment. Only 3 months in and they are wanting to switch his teachers in Pre-K. I'm concerned that the teacher is "giving up" on my son. He does have "antsy" pants and he has the selective hearing. He's gone through the normal behaviour issues of all boys and that's cleared up, however, the teacher is frustrated. I've put him on "calm child", however, that made his hyperness worse. So I've cut out sugar, candy and even…Continue

I arrived here in July of 2012. I was really excited with a good outlook on the future for my family and myself. It has been a little over a year now and I have been getting familiar with the area traveling and the opportunities that are available in Ocala.
I have noticed that in the area were I live things are pretty much at a distance and lots of travel has to be done. I have also noticed that there are a number of vacant properties, businesses and lack of services. So I decided…Continue
Tis the season! It's almost time, or past time for some, to deck the halls, trim the tree and hang those thousands of lights. We love Christmas here and I do say I love the decorating and the more lights the better :).
When do you hang your lights and put up the tree? Is it done already or do you wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving? For us that weekend right after Thankgsiving we are working on the Christmas decorations. I love it and my son does too. My hubby, eehhh..…Continue

Hi! This is my first year homeschooling with my 13 year old. She is on FLVS. I have quit my job to stay home and make sure school is the number one priority. However, I haven't found a home-school group and I would love to meet some other Moms with Teens! This adjustment period for both of us is challenging. Please let me know if you would like to meet up or of any events suitable for us!
P.S. Ocala Homeschooling has not gotten back in touch with me about any…Continue

Is anyone interested in doing a nanny share situation? My sitter can no longer keep my youngest child and we are looking at hiring a professional nanny. I have the details worked out, but it would be much more cost effective if I could share her! I can provide living arrangements.

I am about to move and go through all of my 2 year old daughter's things. I do NOT want to donate to Goodwill. If you have any suggestions on shelters or know anybody in a desperate situation who needs girl items please respond. I will be more than happy to give away the things we no longer need to donate to a good home.
I am reaching out to all of you because I heard about this great program that I think a lot of you would be interested in. It's EF Education First Educational Homestay Programs. They are bringing over a group of international students to Ocala and are looking for a few more homes for their students. I guess the kids go to school all day they just need a bed to sleep in, food, and a great environment. They all speak English they are here to practice the language and get…Continue

Hey ladies, I just got to Ocala today and I have been looking for homes to rent with my family, we looked at a few and we are having a hard time due to not having verifiable income since we are moving to the area, we don't have jobs here yet. Does anyone know any private owners or anyone that can help us since we are new to the area. Thanks.

We're looking for a good family doctor. Has anyone had any experience with Dr. William
Overcash? He was recommended to us. Is he good with children and adults alike?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. We want to find a Dr. we feel comfortable with. Thanks

Does anyone know where to buy "Broccolini" here? I had it for the first time at the Citrus Club in Orlando along with a fabulous filet mignon. I have been dying to have it again but I am having a little trouble finding it here in Ocala. For those who may not know what Broccolini is: here is how Wikipedia explains it :)
"Broccolini is a green vegetable similar to…Continue
