I arrived here in July of 2012. I was really excited with a good outlook on the future for my family and myself. It has been a little over a year now and I have been getting familiar with the area traveling and the opportunities that are available in Ocala.
I have noticed that in the area were I live things are pretty much at a distance and lots of travel has to be done. I have also noticed that there are a number of vacant properties, businesses and lack of services. So I decided to do some research and see if I could find stats on the businesses and community growth in Ocala. I have not found what I am looking for so I am asking for any helpful information. I think Ocala can be a desirable place to live if It had more opportunities. Or perhaps the opportunities are for a select group only.
I have spoken to a number of individuals some whom were moving because Ocala does not offer the convince of the local travel, shopping or community services that other area do. I myself find that I am limited to a certain area if my car is not working. At those moments I would like to be able to walk or take a bus to the nearest shopping strip and be able to purchase what I need or a pair of shoes, maybe even speak with a social service member because I am in need of either a job or assistance with paying my bills or even go to the local SBA even though they will turn me and my business plan away with out even looking at it.
Okay I do understand that Ocala is a great place to live for those retiring and have wealth. But what about those who don't and what about those who were born here are are considered in poverty level income and have no other means but what is provided by the communities. Should they not have the opportunity to create wealth and stimulate the communities with new Ideas. So why is it that they are looked down on and treated like if they will never amount to anything but homeless under a bridge some were. (sorry just had to mention something that keeps popping up as a conversation with educators here in regards to certain students.)
Since I arrived here in July of 2012 I have yet to see or hear any activities that are going on within the community unless I happen to drive by and see the activities happening. No one can tell me were I can go to get involved with the business industry or the community growth. I have ran into many no I am not sure you could try the community center but the meetings and groups aren't what I am looking for. Mind you it is a nice place to live and to build on because it is fairly just starting to grow. Do they not have the organization and groups. And if so and any one of you Ocala moms can tell me were to look I would really appreciate it. I want to see Ocala flourish into a productive and economically sound state. I have a 15 year old and I would like to be able to start a business and invest in Ocala. So to who do I present my Idea's too.
I am saying this because I feel that Ocala has the potential to be a very desirable state in Florida and still maintain its beauty. I would like to see it grow and developed and be active. Alzheimer sets in when we stop being active and have no one to speak with. If any one can direct me to were I can find stats on the Business, Education, Real Estate, and Services industries I would really appreciate it. I am also looking for the percentage of growth in Ocala not just how many people but how the land is being developed in what area and what communities. any and all help is welcomed.
I am looking forward to being part of the growth in Ocala and would like to get involved with the investors and business community as well. So If you can direct me in the right direction. And yes I tried my local SBDC and no It was of no use to me. So I am going this alone you could say so I need some connections and information. I have ideas that will bring in profits and help in the growth of the communities. And yes once I have the funds I am creating that park down the block and putting a pool in it for the kids. The youth needs services so they can stay out of trouble and have thing to do. Okay I will probable be a broke investor but it would be well worth it if I see positive come out of It and kids enjoy themselves,
Oh that reminds me what happened to summer work program for kids here in Ocala don't they have one. Maybe we could create one and give the youth a sense of responsibility towards employment were they choose the right career for their future. I know one thing if my child was studying nursing in school and had a summer youth job in the hospital she would be better equipped to say yes I want to pursue this career. And how do we obtain grants and donations for the schools. Oh sorry going a little fast here yes?
So to all you moms out there with more information on what is going on here in Ocala I ask that you share some of your knowledge with me.
