Looking for an activity to do with your kids this coming weekend? Well in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, why not make some Valentine crafts? These easy and fun crafts will keep the kids occupied and help you spend some quality time together. Some can even be made in vast numbers so your child can take in extra for their friends at school.

Valentine’s Day Craft # 1 – Heart Shaped Crayons

Do your children have a bunch of old busted up crayons just sitting around? Well why not take those old pieces of crayon and turn them into a completely new tie-dyed crayon shaped like a heart?

What You’ll Need: Silicone heart molds (cookie cutters, cupcake or candy molds will work), crayons, baggies to package the finished product in.

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 250-275 degrees.
  2. Peel all the paper off of the crayons.
  3. Break each crayon into about 3-4 pieces and place in molds. It’s ok to get creative and mix and match colors in the molds. This will create a cool tie-dye effect.
  4. Bake the molds for about 10-12 minutes.
  5. Once finished baking, remove from oven and let them cool.
  6. Once they’ve cooled, pop them out of the silicone molds and place them inside the Valentine’s Day baggies.

Valentine’s Day Craft # 2 – Rose Stamps

Have your children create Valentine cards for someone special and then have them decorate it by stamping it with our celery rose stamps!

What You’ll Need:  A few stalks of celery, red paint, green paint, paint brushes and the children’s Valentine cards already made and dried.

Steps:

  1. First cut the celery about an inch to an inch and a half from the end of the stalk.
  2. Dip the end of the celery into the red paint.
  3. Simply stamp the celery onto the perfect place on the card.
  4. Hold for a few seconds, not pressing too hard or too light.
  5. Once the red paint dries a little you can then go back with your paint brush and green paint and add stems and leaves.

Valentine’s Day Craft # 3 – Heart Shaped Candy Box Picture Frames

The title is exactly how it sounds. Find some old heart shaped candy boxes or buy some new ones from the Dollar Store and set out for your kids to make their own custom Valentine’s Day picture frame.

What You’ll Need:  Empty heart shaped candy boxes (both sides), a favorite photo, scissors, craft knife, ruler and glue.

Steps:

  1. Remove all the candy wrappers from the candy box. Measure the height and width of the box’s heart shape and print out your favorite picture so the image will fit how you want it to inside the box.
  2. Use the bottom of the candy box to trace the heart shape onto your printed photo.
  3. Cut the photo out to fit the heart shape.
  4. Next, glue the photo inside the bottom of the candy box.
  5. Now, cut three sides of a rectangle into the top of the candy box with the uncut facing the top of the heart.
  6. Clue the top of the box (with the stand) upside down to the bottom of the box with the picture glued inside of it.
  7. Allow the glue to dry. Once dry, have your kids decorate around the frame as they see fit.
